Other than THAT, BobLee

…. "How was the play" is an old line regarding Mary Todd Lincoln attending a performance at Ford’s Theatre at which a certain Mr John W. Booth was also on hand.  I “care about” two college football teams – UNC & Missouri …. THUNK!  Saturday was a character builder for someone of my sporting preferences (duh!)   We stayed at our favorite B&B, saw Phineus Teague, met some new fine folks but otherwise the weekend sucked swampwater.

Who ARE These Guys?

…. Baseball has always been “my sport” …. It’s the one at which I was less un-skilled as a youth and my choice for general spectatoring.  Yes, I do love my Fall Color & Pageantry gridfests but for this American my favorite past time is still Baseball.   So, who are all these fuzzy-cheeked whozits playing in October? ….. and BobLee has a Butch & Jimma Update if anyone is interested.

Under a blue gray October sky amid Kenan's pines

…. Excuse the 10,000s rushing to Wal-Mart today for Tar Heel gear.  Yesterday’s Game Of The Millenium has rightfully ignited a Bandwagon Bonfire for Butch …. Move over FSU (’01) and Miami (’04) and NCSU (’04), there’s a new Best Game Sheriff in town.  “Under a blue gray October sky” amid Kenan’s fabled pines.

My Growing Up People

…. I only “grew up” once and have never really completed the process (kinda like my Masters thesis!). …. Everyone’s growing up was not “like mine” but whenever I pull some rabbit outta my yesteryear hat a bunch of you say “me too BobLee”.   Did your growing up have “a Dr Randall”?  Mine passed away last week.  …..

Moses & Cocoanut Shrimp Amid The Pines

.... Heels scald the do…. “Where was Moses when the lights went out?” was a ditty that Mamma used to recite to little BobLee.   Neither Mamma nor you would ever guess “where BobLee was when the lights went out”  among Kenan’s fabled pines.   It involves Napa Valley, cocoanut shrimp, huggin’ the Chancellor’s wife and Sarah Palin. …. BUT there were no cheerleaders in the toilet stall.

Darth Davis, A Mad Dwarf & Ziggy The Bunting Midget

…. Al Davis is a tyrannical ego-manical raving lunatic!  That glowing tribute could have been written any time over the past 40 years, long before Lane Kiffin was even born.  Guess what?  I crossed paths with Darth Davis and his little henchman Al LoCasale (aka The Mad Dwarf) back in the day.   BobLee on “guys who own sports teams”. ….. and “Lay It Down Ziggy” ….

REALLY Stop The Presses!

…. Remember that Big Journalism shindig I was at a few weeks ago? …. BobLee has some thoughts from that as STOP THE PRESSES finally happens.  We have a heckuva Week Five amid The Color & Pageantry.  Another major NC-based bidness goes by-by.  …. Steve Bizell and a McQueen & Mary Updates.

In A Heapa Trouble Amigo

…. It was bad enough dealing with psychos, methheads, and peeping toms; now Steve Bizzell has “the Alphabet Agitators” in his grill  Yes, this is THE STORY you all knew BobLee would HAVE to discuss.  Our annual rant on Zebra Rage generated the usual backwash …. More downsizing among the local nabobs.

Great (over)Expectations

…. One of the unique joys of sports is that unfetted exuberance of unfounded and unrealistic Great Expectation.   Each early season every partisan dreams the dreams of innocent naïveté   Alas, for every Tampa Bay Rays fan (of which there are still only a pitiful few!) there were 10,000s of ECU and UNC fans today. …. Chuck Dickens’ Pip never dreamed it was Magwitch.  UNCers, of course, BLAMED THE  %$&^#  REFEREES as is their custom.

No More Color, Just Pageantry

…. Long-suffering Kenanites are hearing BCS melodies after their BIGGEST W since Connor Barth had a haircut.  Wuffs welcome Skip’s Boyz to the friendly confines of The Carter.   Deacs go scalp-hunting in Tally.   Devils welcome the hapless Hoos ….. and the NCAA wants to “de-color” College Football.
