July 22, 2010:  You Tar Heel fans perplexified by my hypothetical question about alma maternal priorities - cease perplexing.   I can’t leave you in that condition. July 11, 2010:  Remember the term Fair & Square?  I’m not sure of the origin of the phrase - an adaptation of a Visigoth oath .... an Amish prayer ?  I’ve never heard Kid say the phrase.  When I was a kid we said it a lot. 

It was usually said to someone who had bested you in some competition – “Well, you beat me fair & square..... so you get my baseball card collection and my Green Hornet decoder ring.  I want a rematch.”

July 8, 2010:  Jake Spoon rode with McRae & Call’s Texas Rangers.  He was a solid comrade but a rascal.  He fell in with the cutthroat Suggs’ Gang for a few days. They got caught and they got hung.  Jake too.  Jake, and Damon Evans, “crossed the line”.

July 6, 2010:  I noted recently that Missus (aka Blondie) won our intra-family Weird Reunion Guy Award.  Jack / Jacki  The Cross-dresser trumped my Norris The Crazy Guy.  Jack(i) is not a real transy - he “just” likes to wear women’s clothes, make-up, etc. - "just" ??  We didn’t have us one of those.  ..... then Freddie's sister walked up and said.

July 5, 2010:  You guys are THE BEST!  Eight buddies have e-mailed worried I’m gonna bust a gut on this story .... gonna overswing and hurt myself.  Bless your hearts, six years ago I did “Two Cheerleaders In A Toilet Stall making sex sounds” . .... This one’s in that league for sure.

July 2, 2010:  I’m driving home from our BB4J meeting when my iPhone blares out Wabash Cannonball – “BobLee here.” -  “BobLee, this is LeBron.” - “Whats up King?” - “Bro I need Debbie Yow’s agent.  The deal she got from NC State is better than Albert Haynesworth’s bank-breaker with the Redskins”.  ...... LeBron was impressed.  I’m not sure “impressed" is quite the word I’d use.

The NC-born “good guy” coach is in the dugout ..... The famous coach is in the stands .... The AD is a graduate of UNC ..... and Carolina Wins The College World Series ..... Yippee!..... Not so fast Franklin Street – no bon fires for you tonight.

On UNC’s South Campus, Roy & The Wears are in a Mexican Stand-off.  ...... Missus (and Cape Central High) wins our family’s Weirdest Reunion Guy Award with "Jackee" ..... Good Lord!!

June 14, 2010:  Prince Albert was tracking Saul headed to Damascus when the e-mail hit my I-phone 3G – Colorado Jumps To Pac-10+.   Albert asked  Baby Boomers 4 Jesus for concerns he should pass on to The Big Guy.   With 50+ fellas there’s always someone needing HIS assistance.  My hand shot up.  Albert cringed.  Uh oh ..... “Do you guys think God cares about the future of College Football?”   The consensus was “if He does, it’s not very much.” ..... Some of you probably do  ..... A LOT.

May 23, 2010:  (1) I've attended 4 of the past 5 NC Sports Hall of Fame Banquets. The average age of the 400+ attendees exceeds mine.  I’m walking down Life’s 15th Fairway.  If there isn’t anyone “on the front nine” that cares, this fine venture is doomed. .... (2) As expected, the commencement column stirred you up. ..... (3) James K. Polk did some very fine things as POTUS ..... Who Knew?

May 20, 2010: What do commencement “exercises” and youth soccer games have in common? .... Both mean more if you have “blood kin” participating.  Saturday our “blood kin” became an alumna of The Univ of Missouri.  "Rite of passage” serve as universal measurement for one’s “passage” thru Life.  This one went off without a hitch.

May 15, 2010:  The International Website Oversight Society is threatening to unplug me .... unless I do a Conference Expansion Column.  Hokie Jim did his a week or so ago.  I was holding out.  A Conference Expansion column is slightly less trite than a “What's Happened to Roy” column.  I've done two of those.  Here goes ......

Tiger’s neck hurts ...... NCSU fires an AD ...... Car 54, Where Are You?  ...... and a Big Time Media Mogul is chasing a cyber ghost thru the Internet ether.  Sounds like a BobLee kind of kerfoodle ..... Yep.

 .... Duke wins another NatChamp ..... Wake hires the AD’s buddy ..... NCState signs CJ one&done and zaps its AD.  ...... BUT the folks on Franklin Street like the regional media spotlight ON THEM.   Be careful what you ask for Tar Heels.  In the space of two hours Thursday The Wears flew the coop and LT fell off his legend pedestal AGAIN.

May 4, 2010:.... What is "A BIG DEAL"?  Along the Gulf it might be “the oil spill”.  In Nashville it might be “the flooding”.  Arizonans have their new law.  New York City has that thing in Times Square. ..... But in “the Triangle” all that is “piffle”.   The Lee Fowler Era of NC State Athletics flatlined at noon Tuesday.  The Wuff folks said "Jed, move away from here ....". 

EUREKA! I found the Missing Link! ......  Every legal, and otherwise, soul across the fruited plain is convinced that our partisan differences have ZERO tangential points.  I, BobLee, have found one!  The one commonality between “people like me” and those who don’t like “people like me” ...... Guess what it is? (NOT a partisan political rant!)

.....  A very young BobLee visited Disneyland fifty years ago.  I vividly recall Sleeping Beauty’s castle, a flume ride, the various “Lands” and seven dwarfs and, of course, “Mickey”.  We took Kid ten years ago.  “Mickey”, Goofy and the gang were still there. ..... It’s been forty years since I was “in college”.  “Mickey” and his gang are still there too.

April 22, 2010:   I’m sure this is the only column written this week that mentions both Ben Roethlisberger AND Haley Koch.  Ben you know as the Steeler QB with a penchant for lascivious behavior.  “Angry Little Haley” is UNC’s first Morehead Scholar to be arrested.  What’ll you hear what "Angry Little Haley" is saying now!

April 18, 2010:  You and I LOVED the recent Butler Cinderella Ride, right?  100,000s of fans did.  But a certain group of sports administrators immediately saw the darkside of David v Goliath.  The Athletic Directors at all the other “Davids” across the country..... like Ron Wellman at Wake Forest.  To paraphrase Peanuts’ Linus – “there is no heavier burden than exaggerated expectations.”

.... turns to Football!:  Driving home from Saturday’s UNC Spring Football Game,  my mood was upbeat and positive over events of the prior 24 hours.  Then the voice and e-mails started.  Determined not to over-react I laid my opinions aside to simmer.  Those opinions now emerge hopefully objective and entertaining.

...... BobLee weighs in guns ablazing on a list of headline issues of the day.   “The Calipari Way” ....... UConn women ...... Trusting Ron Wellman ...... The Newest American Hero ...... K-praise ..... and  Pinocchio Woods forgot to read the fine print.
