It’s time to start jettisoning those long-time “executives” (wink, wink) with those hefty 6-figure salaries. Many many much lower-paid minions have already been sacrificed to the bottom-line monster. McClatchy has run out of minions.

Would you “retire” if your job consisted of simply regurgitating the same old worn-out editorials you had written 15-20 years ago. Stevie hasn’t written an original word since Clinton defined “is”. Every two years he pulls out his last “The N&O proudly endorses _______” and types in the most extreme left-winger he can find on the ballot and hits send. Would you retire from that gig?
When Publisher Orage Quarles “suggested” it might be a good time for Stevie to pack it in…. it wasn’t exactly a suggestion.

Because (2) Stevie went to Yale, silly; and that’s the school song. Stevie grew up in New England where he fell madly in love with the whole Camelot thing. No, not King Arthur….. The one out at Hyannisport.
Yes, Steve Ford is one of those “damn relocated Yankees” that former Mayor Charlie Meeker despised so. Charlie was a hard-core xenophobe (and hard-core left-winger too) but he happened to be right about Stevie.
Look for Stevie to be “replaced” by simply giving his Asst Op/Ed Editor a new set of bizness cards. Or maybe just some Wite-Out to take Asst off the ones’ he’s got. When the company austerity program involves reusing staples….. you can bet they won’t be flying anyone in for interviews.
Has Stevie EVER endorsed a non-extreme Left-winger? Yes, to be honest. He did endorse Pat McCrory four-years ago versus Dumplin’ Perdue. How come dat? It was a trial balloon by The N&O to see if it would make a difference in their spiraling subscribers numbers. It didn’t; so they went back to “all liberal all the way”….. except for a nice fellow named Tom Murry who is a Repub incumbent for NC House. Hopefully Tom can overcome the burden of that millstone and still win re-election.
In other N&O goings-on….. in the final week before Nov 6; their ink-stained wretches are going all out. RobRielleWho Christensen (“award-winning newshound”)…. Johnny “Reb” Frank and Barry “The Colonel” Saunders are pounding out uber-Obamic / anti-Romney propaganda for all they’re worth. Which, granted, ain’t much.
Rob and Johnny are reprinting everything NCDem HQ sends them on any obscure poll that still shows the jug-eared Kenyan with a snowball’s chance in Hell.
Barry “The Colonel” has been assigned to smear and discredit Billy Graham (??) as well as his usual assignment of scatological bloviations against “white folks” in general. Ol’ Barry is a real piece-of-work.
Yep, GangMcClatchy is on an all-out journo-blitzkrieg for “their side”. “Their side” being the extreme Far Left Liberal. Their screeds, alas, don’t have much “oomph”
